For my senior game project, i want to explore the realm of angry birds. The game angry birds is the number one selling smart phone application game and for good reason, The game is cute, friendly, it has very simple mechanics (sling shooting a bird) and since the game has literally no blood or gore, it is very family oriented; any one can play the game. We are looking at a game with a age target between 5 years of age to over 50. The game is very easy to get addicted to and is very difficult at the same time, and with all the possible expansions, the replayability is ever expanding.
What i plan to do is take the general idea of Angry Birds and revamp it using penguins. Everyone loves penguins. The idea i have visioned is a 2 1/2 D game where it is made of all 3D components but is viewed from the side such as a side scroller. The Penguin will be standing on the top of a large ice slide (upper left hand corner) which will act as a launching ramp. The player will tap the mouse or screen to control the flipper movement of the Penguin, the more he flaps his flippers the faster he will slide down the ramp. Then the penguin will be launched into the air only to crash down into a collection of ice cubes. It is the purpose of the player to remove all the blocks in order to move onto the next level. Meanwhile there may be enemies trying to stop the player from achieving this goal, such as a killer whale which will jump into the air to snatch the penguin out of the sky or maybe some rather rude seals. The point system will depend on how many penguins the player uses to clear the level as well as the block combo, the more blocks the player destroys with one shot the higher the score, almost like a ice block combo.
Getting deeper into the game, different penguins in different outfits will have different abilities; faster, more or less flight/air time etc.
I want to make this game in the Unity Engine and make it playable for the PC as well as iPhone and Android.
